Everton new-boy Amadou Onana has wasted no time sharing his thoughts on the incident that lead to Virgil van Dijk receiving a yellow card in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
The Reds' Dutch defender was cautioned in the 76th minute for a late challenge that left Onana rolling on the floor in agony. Television replays showed that the Belgian international had been caught by Van Dijk's planted foot above the ankle, but although referee Anthony Taylor gave a foul and brandished a yellow card, the incident was not referred for a pitch side VAR review.
The Blues were denied a second-half winner however, when Connor Coady's tap-in was ruled out after a video review declared him offside, as the game produced a 0-0 stalemate.

Shortly after full-time, Onana took to social media to share his thoughts on the tackle he had endured at the hands of Van Dijk. Posting on Instagram, the 21-year-old published a video still, showing Van Dijk's boot high above the ankle, accompanied by the comment: "Imma leave it here.... VAR."
Onana, who was himself booked in the first half, received treatment after the incident but was able to continue in the match. This was the midfielder's fifth Premier League appearance for the Blues, since making a £34million switch from Lille in August.
