“We are there as we speak. His departure was not planned in the initial plans but the circumstances, the will of the player, the level of proposal from the clubs... which also demonstrates the quality of the boy and which makes it possible to congratulate the work of the recruitment cell.”
Everton swooped for Onana after it initially seemed that the Belgium international was on his way to West Ham United, who are managed by former Blues boss David Moyes. Onana, 20, is set to be a key part of current Everton manager Frank Lampard's efforts to strengthen his squad.
Talks to seal Idrissa Gueye's return to Goodison Park from Paris Saint-Germain are also ongoing. The 32-year-old has been left out of PSG's squad to face Clermont this weekend.
