Amadou Onana breaks silence on Everton transfer speculation with nine-word message

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has sent an emphatic message following speculation surrounding his future at Goodison Park.

London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal were rumoured to be eyeing moves for the powerful Belgian international as problems mounted in L4. Frank Lampard was sacked a week before the transfer window shut and the 21-year-old missed the first day of training following his exit from the hot seat, although his absence from Paul Tait and Leighton Baines' first session with the Blues was pre-planned.

Sean Dyche has since taken charge as Everton looks to steer clear of the relegation dogfight - the former Burnley boss has already put the squad through their paces.

On Wednesday night, Onana had fans talking after posting on Instagram for the first time since his future came under speculation. He wrote: "Said what I said and did what I did. #Aintleavingtheship #AO8."

The midfielder, who was a member of Roberto Martinez's Belgium squad at the World Cup, has been a fan favourite since arriving in the summer with his performances being one of the highlights of a dismal campaign thus far.

He opened his Everton account against Southampton when he powered a header home to open the scoring in their showdown last month.

"This is just me being me," he said on his relationship with fans. "I love the relationship I have with the fans because if you play this beautiful game it is also because of them. It's all about the joy we want to give them so I love the relationship that I have with them. They've shown me massive support since I've been here.

"Last month, during the whole World Cup while in Qatar I got loads and loads of messages wishing me good luck. Receiving such support feels amazing. It feels amazing to be a part of this club and to have these amazing fans."
