Amad Diallo serenaded by Sunderland support as post-Rangers turnaround earns standing ovation

Amad Diallo was serenaded by the Sunderland support as the former Rangers loanee played his final home league game at the Stadium of Light.

The Manchester United attacker has been sensational for the Black Cats this season and has been a major reason behind them having a chance of sneaking into the English Championship play-offs in the final game of the season alongside former Celtic star Patrick Roberts.

It's been quite the 12 months for the one-time Rangers loan signing who has shown the kind of form Giovanni van Bronckhorst was hoping to see when he landed him from Old Trafford last January in a blockbuster loan deal along with Aaron Ramsey. Neither signing worked out in Govan but fast forward one year and the transformation for Diallo has been incredible. Tony Mowbray has been full of praise for the youngster all season and has previously admitted it is unlikely they will manage to hold onto him - although playing EPL football next season may help their case in the fight to try and bring him back in to the club.

Sunderland recovered from two goals down to rescue a point in dramatic fashion through a Roberts stunner. The wild scenes in the stands translated to the touchline with Mowbray pulling his HAMSTRING as the 45,000 strong home support went wild.

It means victory over Preston in the final game of the season could land a top six finish and a chance at the 'richest game in the world'. It will be a nervy matchday 46 for the supporters and players but they showed their appreciation to Diallo by chanting his name loud and proud as he applauded the fans back.

He may well get one final game at the Stadium of Light this season if the play-off dream is achieved - but if not, he has signed off from his temporary home in style as they uploaded footage with the caption: "AMAD" with a red and white love heart.

Sunderland are seventh in the standings just two points behind Millwall and three behind Coventry - but with two goals less in the goal difference charts - going into the final round of fixtures. Mowbray and Co travel to Preston on matchday 46 while Millwall host Blackburn Rovers and Coventry are on the road at Middlesbrough.
