Amad Diallo Manchester United future boost as ex-Rangers star told Erik Ten Hag 'appreciates' him

Erik Ten Hag is reportedly 'appreciating' the efforts of former Rangers loanee Amad Diallo at Sunderland in a big boost for the youngster's future.

The Ivorian winger came to United with a hefty price tag of £40million from Atalanta but failed to set Old Trafford alight in the opening salvo of his career. Diallo was then shipped out on loan to Rangers in January 2022 in a move that was hailed as by then Red Devils boss Ralf Ragnick as an 'excellent opportunity' to gain valuable game time and experience.

But the 20-year-old, despite scoring on his debut inside four minutes against Ross County, couldn't muster consistent game time under Gio Van Bronckhorst and managed just ten appearances. Diallo, however, is having something of a career revival under ex-Celtic boss Tony Mowbray in the English Championship.

The nifty attacker has twelve goal involvements in 29 games for the Black Cats but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists Erik Ten Hag has taken notice and that United feel they will get a good return on their investment.

He told his Youtube channel: “Manchester United will make a decision on them [Amad and Facundo Pellistri] between April and May and they will discuss with the player’s agents to decide. They are very happy and they [Manchester United] are convinced they will not lose money on these two players.

"So it means that the plan was smart and good... for Amad Diallo they want the player to play and play. When Amad Diallo is on the pitch, he is always doing good but he deserves to play, to be in the starting XI.

“So Erik ten Hag is also appreciating his approach on loan but they will evaluate the future of these two players but Manchester United feel they will not lose money. They could be two really important players for the future.”
