Amad Diallo injury fears allayed as ex-Celtic boss tells former Rangers loanee to 'finish strong'

Amad Diallo has never played a consecutive three full games in his life admits ex-Celtic boss Tony Mowbray as he allayed injury fears on the starlet.

The young Ivorian is having the football of his life at Sunderland this season with eight goals and three assists across 32 appearances as he helps to lead the charge towards a potential promotion play-off spot. Diallo, however, missed the last game through injury with fears a hamstring knock could have been 'season ending' for the former Rangers loanee.

But Mowbray has since insisted the Manchester United prospect could be 'flying again' in as little as a week's time but that he has set the challenge down for Diallo to finish his landmark season 'in style'.

He said: "Amad is such an important footballer...I've spoken to him, he had a scan and there's no tear, there's no damage, the hamstring looks perfect.

"He's a lad who's never played three consecutive 90 minutes in his career and he's just played 32 of them, or something like that, so his body is telling him and he is cramping up and his hamstrings are tight.

“We need to give him a rest, take him off the grass for a few days, let him have a swim in the pool, let him have a massage and a rub, and in a week's time I think he'll be out there flying again and finish the season strongly for us."
