Amad Diallo continues post-Rangers success as Manchester United kid earns Player of the Year shout

Amad Diallo's exploits at Sunderland have earned the youngster a spot in the English Championship's Young Player of the Year nominations.

The former Rangers loanee is playing some of his best football to date at the Stadium of Light as the Black Cats aim to finish the season in style and potentially squeeze in to contention for promotion play-offs. Diallo returned to parent club Manchester United last summer after a failed loan spell at Ibrox saw him make just five Premiership stars under Gio Van Bronckhorst.

But the young Ivorian has been in top form with Diallo revealing his ambitions to finally make good on United's hefty price tag of £40million for his services in 2020. The 20-year-old's success has been recognised as he made the shortlist of nominations for the award.

The likes of Bristol City’s Alex Scott and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney are also up for the award.

Diallo said on his dream of playing regularly at United: “I haven’t shown my best for Manchester United yet… but I hope next season I can return and prove my talent," as quoted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

“My dream is to play regular football at Manchester United. It was a dream to join them, I love the club”.
