Chelsea's attack seems to have become the main focus for Todd Boehly and Co with less than two weeks remaining until the end of the transfer window.
The Blues have started the 2022/23 Premier League season in a mixed way, having won one, drawn one and lost the other which was the most recent 3-0 defeat away at Elland Road against Jesse Marsch's Leeds United. Not only did that loss reiterate the need for Wesley Fofana, but Kai Havertz' latest outing has really shown Chelsea supporters what their attack will be like for the rest of the new campaign if no further investment were to be made in that area.
Since the loss, there have been some major developments in regards to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Anthony Gordon and Rafael Leao. On Aubameyang, a base fee of £18m plus add-ons has seemingly been agreed, if the Spanish press is to be believed and there are just a few things needed to be done before he travels back to England for his latest adventure. Gordon, meanwhile, has told Everton manager Frank Lampard about his desires to move on to pastures new and despite this verbal transfer request, the Athletic have reported that there are no guarantees that this deal gets done before the deadline.

Leao's situation is an interesting one. He is currently in new contract negotiations with the Rossoneri but is attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League. Early negotiations have re-started again in a deal which seems the most complicated out of the aforementioned three. Cynics believe the 23-year-old and his representatives may just be using Chelsea's name to broker a new deal.
With all the uncertainty remaining in this late stage, last-ditch transfer alternatives will always be considered, so it's no wonder that the likes of Alvaro Morata and Ivan Toney have been two names linked recently.
Morata, who had a disastrous spell in West London between 2017 and 2020, is being linked to a lot of new clubs at the moment with Atlético Madrid needing to cash in amid La Liga financial worries.
Maybe Tuchel sees something in Morata's game that both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri didn't value? Anyhow, football.london previews the worst-case scenario for Chelsea's attack that could unfold in the transfer market if certain things were to transpire against them.
There have been suggestions that two strikers could be signed with both Timo Werner's and Romelu Lukaku's departures taken into account so a double swoop coming to fruition for Aubameyang and Morata cannot be categorically ruled out.
But if only Morata was to sign, you would presume Tuchel would start him over Havertz initially.
Raheem Sterling would start on the left and currently, Gordon looks more likely to sign than Leao meaning he would come in off the right.
With both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi expected to secure various moves before the deadline, they would not feature even as a substitute option.
Front three - Raheem Sterling, Anthony Gordon, Alvaro Morata
Substitutes - Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, Harvey Vale
