Alternative angle shows emotional footage of Jota raw reconnect with Celtic support

Fan footage has shown Jota's raw emotional reaction as he reconnected with Celtic supporters.

The winger, 25, was overcome with emotion after netting on his Celtic return debut at the weekend.

Jota completed a move back to Celtic from Rennes with Kyogo Furuhashi going in the opposite direction during the winter window.

The Portuguese fan favourite climbed off the bench at Fir Park on Sunday and scored the third goal in the 3-1 win in the Scottish Premiership.

After hitting his trademark celebration stance with his right arm held aloft, Jota then broke down in tears as he reconnected with Celtic fans.

Footage of the match on TV showed Jota wiping tears from his eyes as he jogged back into position before bursting into joyous celebrations seconds later when the final whistle was sounded.

However, footage posted by @Maedamaestro on X has now shown Jota's instant reaction to his face-to-face reconnect with supporters as he clutched his face and bent over as he began to cry while his chant boomed around the stadium.

Clearly affected by the show of support, Jota was teary before being comforted by team-mate Maeda ahead of kick off.

On Sky Sports, he said: "Definitely. Amazing, amazing feeling. I think I couldn't have written it better.

"It's just such a happy moment for me to come back and for the team to deliver as well and again to celebrate with these amazing fans because they deserve it."

On his emotional celebration, Jota added: "Yeah, it has been some quite difficult moments, ups and downs and I just feel like I am back home and I couldn't be happier than this.

"Obviously, it has been a long time since I have been playing consecutively and I know it will take time to reach my best levels.

"But with these amazing staff and team-mates I will work hard every day so I can achieve that as quickly as possible."
