Alternate Jurors To Remain In Courthouse During Deliberations

Former U.S. President Donald Trump's Hush Money Trial Continues In New York

During a recent court proceeding, six alternate jurors were informed that they would not be participating in deliberations but would need to remain in the courthouse. After the main panel of 12 jurors exited the courtroom, Judge Juan Merchan expressed his gratitude to the alternates for their dedication and informed them that they were not excused from their duties just yet.

Merchan explained to the alternate jurors that they would need to stay with the court as there might be a requirement for their presence during the deliberation process. He commended the alternates for their active participation and engagement throughout the trial, noting that he observed one juror diligently taking notes in multiple notebooks.

Addressing the specific juror, Merchan acknowledged their long hours of service and hard work, praising their commitment to the proceedings. The judge's words of appreciation highlighted the importance of the alternate jurors' role in the legal process and their contribution to ensuring a fair and just trial.
