Alphonso Davies: Liverpool Target Bayern Star As Trent Replacement

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies is one of two main Liverpool targets as the Reds line up possible replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

England international Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Trent’s contract is up at the end of the current season, meaning Real are hopeful of securing his services for free in the summer.

Liverpool are not expected to make many changes to their squad this January, but have begun planning for next season.

There is growing optimism that both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will extend their contracts, but it seems Alexander-Arnold may be heading for the exit.

Arne Slot is reportedly looking to the German Bundesliga in search of reinforcements should Trent depart.

Top of their list of possible replacements is Alphonso Davies. The Canadian star has been at Bayern Munich since 2018.

Still only 24 years old, he is viewed as a long-term option who still has room to improve.

Aside from Davies, Liverpool have also identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Jerome Frimpong.

The Dutch fullback is also wanted by Manchester City, but Arne Slot is hopeful of landing Frimpong as a successor to Andy Robertson at left-back.

Alphonso Davies Could Be At The Centre Of Messy Liverpool Saga

In response to Real Madrid stepping up their interest in Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have started pursuing Alphonso Davies.

Los Blancos have admired Davies for some time, and Liverpool’s interest is seen by some as retaliation for Madrid targeting their homegrown talent in Trent.

But should the Spanish side fail to land either Davies or Trent, they have also enquired about Theo Hernandez of AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Real’s El Clasico rivals Barcelona are also after Davies. The Canadian is out of contract in the summer, with Bayern hopeful they can entice him to renew.

For Liverpool, PSG’s Nuno Mendes and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez are also on the radar should they fail to secure Davies.
