Almost half of patients at Lanarkshire’s A&E departments were not seen within the Scottish Government’s four hour target.
In the latest figures, only 53.8 per cent were seen at A&E within the four-hour target time at Hairmyres, Monklands and Wishaw hospitals.
A further 586 waited over eight hours and 209 waited over half a day to be seen.
Across Scotland 64.9 per cent of patients were seen within four hours after arriving at A&E. The Scottish Government’s own target is for 95 per cent of patients to be seen within four hours, but they have not met this since July 2020
Scottish Tories Central Scotland list MSP Meghan Gallacher said: “Just when you thought A&E waiting times could not get any worse on Humza Yousaf’s watch, they hit another appalling record low.
"They should be a new source of shame for him.
“The flimsy NHS Recovery Plan produced by the SNP Health Secretary simply isn’t cutting it for patients in NHS Lanarkshire and is leading to longer and longer waits at A&E for them.
“The crisis is ever deepening in A&E departments in NHS Lanarkshire due to Humza Yousaf’s continued failures to support our heroic frontline staff.
“He must accept the reality that his recovery plan has come nowhere near to fixing the problems in our A&E departments in NHS Lanarkshire.
“That’s because the SNP Government is distracted by pushing for another divisive independence referendum next year, rather than showing some leadership and tackling the crisis in A&E in NHS Lanarkshire now.”
A spokesman for the Scottish Government said that the figures came at a time when there have increased numbers of staff on well-deserved leave during school holidays.
They added: “Over the last two years, our NHS has suffered the biggest shock of its 74-year existence.
"Despite this, Scotland continues to have the best performing A&Es in the UK.
“Despite these pressures, nearly two-thirds of patients are being seen in our A&E departments within the four-hour target.”
