Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that the Premier League title is ‘nerve-wracking’ for him and his team-mates. With five games remaining this season, City are one point clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.
Liverpool have put together a remarkable run of form that has seen them pick up 38 points from 14 league games in 2022. The only times they have dropped points have been 2-2 draws with Chelsea and City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men also beat City 3-2 earlier this month in the FA Cup semi-finals, which may give his side a psychological boost ahead of the run-in.

Gundogan, who played under Klopp when the Liverpool boss was in charge of Borussia Dortmund, admits that the pressure is something that he and his City team-mates are conscious of.
“It is a very exciting and nerve-wracking race for us as well as for the fans,” he told Sport1.
“As Liverpool are incredibly strong and win every game we are almost forced to stay focused and not allow ourselves to slip up. That keeps the tension high throughout.
"You play football for situations like that. It could well be that we have to win all the games until the end in order to become champions.
“We are a top team that is strong and versatile both individually and collectively. We have grown together as a team, both athletically and personally, and approach every game with the highest level of concentration.”
“That keeps the tension high throughout. You play football for situations like that. It could well be that we have to win all the games until the end in order to become champions. If we continue to do that over the next few weeks, we’ll be able to take our lead to the finish line.”
Liverpool and City are both in action this week in the Champions League semi-finals before they travel to Newcastle United and Leeds United respectively next weekend in the Premier League.
