Ally McCoist has told Celtic-daft Alan Brazil to dream on as far as a Rangers guard of honour is concerned this weekend.
The Light Blues host the Scottish champions at Ibrox this Saturday in the sixth and final derby match of the season.
Michael Beale has yet to get a victory over Ange Postecoglou so far in his permanent tenure.
And while there is nothing to play for except for pride, Rangers will view this game as an opportunity to ensure they get at least one win over their arch-city rivals.
The guard of honour topic has come up frequently over the years around about this time of the season. Most recently, in 2021, the thorny issue was raised as Celtic opted not to give Rangers one following their 55th title triumph under Steven Gerrard.
Of course, Rangers have also not provided one in the past either when Celtic had already clinched the league title.
And while Brazil was only winding McCoist up, the Gers legend was having none of it, as he turned the tables on the talkSPORT host.
Blaring out Queen's We Are The Champions on the airwaves, Brazil said: "Celtic didn't give Rangers a guard of honour in 2021 when they won the title, should Rangers do it at Ibrox on Saturday Alistair? Should they? It would be a great token gesture."
And it was here McCoist took his chance to have a pop back at Celtic's failed ten-in-a-row bid only two-years-ago.
He laughed: "Well, what do you think? You know it's not happening, I know it's not happening, move on to the next question!
"I've got to say, I thought it was really poor of you lot not to give us a guard of honour in 2021 when we stopped 10. I thought it was poor from you lot, to be quite frank with you. No?"
Meanwhile, David McCallum blamed a first half ‘power cut’ for Rangers’ dramatic Glasgow Cup defeat as Celtic secured the silverware at Ibrox.
He said: said: “The penalties for me become irrelevant, I know that’s where the games are won and lost at the end but ultimately, we had an 11-minute power cut in the first half that put us on the back foot and gave us a mountain to climb.
“We almost went into our shells in the first half but in the second half, we showed much more personality and an example of how we want to play on and off the ball."
