Rangers icon Ally McCoist played it cool after a Tottenham Hotspur diehard touted him as the perfect candidate to replace Antonio Conte.
The wildly popular pundit offered a diplomatic response over how Daniel Levy will go about replacing the Italian firebrand. Conte exited stage left late on Sunday night with Spurs turning to current assistants Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason for the remainder of the campaign with their Champions League hopes hanging on a knife edge.
McCoist was namechecked as the perfect man to breathe new life into Tottenham after their latest big name boss departed without lifting silverware – a run which is now in its 15th year and will not be ended this season after exiting three Cup competitions since Christmas.
Speaking to talkSPORT, a punter said: "You're the type of man to kick some sense into them and get them ready for old Poch to come in."
But McCoist responded with his feet firmly on the ground. The Rangers hero said: "I've got to say, Les, with all due respect, I think they have bigger fish to fry than me. It must be so frustrating being a Spurs fan at the moment, in the last few years. What is the lack of consistency."
