Ally McCoist's Rangers post mortem absence explained as Ray Parlour hails Celtic men of steel

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour admits he couldn't keep his eyes off Celtic's blockbuster win over Rangers on Sunday.

And he was full of praise for the league leaders' resilience to keep the champions at bay to open up a six-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Parlour was filling in for Ally McCoist on talkSPORT's breakfast show alongside Laura Woods as they discussed the monumental clash.

And Woods and the Romford Pele revealed McCoist's absence wasn't due to been left reeling by the result at Ibrox.

The Rangers icon is heading to Portugal for a break before he takes in his former side's mammoth Europa League quarter final first leg against Braga in person.

Parlour was full of praise of the blood and thunder encounter that has Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou closing in on title glory at the first time of asking.

The Gunners legend said: "It was fantastic.

"The intensity, the tackles flying in, it was a proper football game.

"Rangers were a little bit unlucky not to get anything out the game, because they were pushing.

"But Celtic defended so well in the second half, that was a great game."

Rangers hero McCoist was on commentary duty at Ibrox duty and he was majorly impressed by the display of one Celtic hero in particular.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “The one player that really made the difference was Tom Rogic, particularly in the first 45 minutes.

“He was playing in pockets in front of the Rangers back four, he was picking the ball up, I thought he was different class."
