Ally McCoist's brutally honest Pascal Struijk verdict as Leeds United struggle in Cardiff first-half

ITV commentator Ally McCoist has said Pascal Struijk hasn't 'looked comfortable at all' during the first half of Leeds United's FA Cup third-round match against Cardiff City.

The Dutchman, who was playing at centre-back following a long spell at left-back was involved with both of the Bluebirds' first-half goals, as his defensive error bought Joel Robles off his line before Cardiff striker Jaden Philogene-Bidace slotted it into the back of the net through a sea of bodies.

Suddenly it was 2-0 as Sheyi Ojo found his goal just seven minutes later after a fantastic lobbed ball by Andy Rinomhata was flicked on by Struijk into the path of Ojo, who fired it past Robles to double their lead.

Speaking on commentary, McCoist highlighted the Whites' poor defensive unit over the first half and pointed out Struijk's mistakes as a reason for them being 2-0 down.

"I was going to say over the opening 20 minutes Pascal Struijk’s not looked comfortable at all. He’s just unaware of Harris going in behind him, who has done really well, once it breaks he’s got absolutely no chance.

"He’s looked really uncomfortable in the last 20 minutes, Pascal Struijk, I’ve got to say. That is not a major surprise, a defensively really poor goal (to concede), Cardiff will be delighted with one of the easiest of finishes."
