Confident Ally McCoist is backing blue as he believes Rangers can come up trumps against Union Saint-Gilloise in their crucial Champions League qualifier.
The 59-year-old is under no Illusions his former team are up against it as Gio van Bronckhorst plots a comeback after the shock 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Leuven. The Dutchman pulled no punches and neither is the club's all-time goalscorer – who knows things must improve at fortress Ibrox if a comeback is to happen.
Rangers are aiming to end a 12-year-wait to return to the Champions League group stage and McCoist is backing returning pair Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "Aw man, you just have to think about last season (atmosphere), you can ask Adrian Durham, Adrian says that Leipzig game was the most incredible atmosphere he's ever experienced anywhere in football, and that's a bit of a statement from a guy who is out at football nine days a week.
"I've heard the old stadium has some atmosphere but last season was ridiculous, really ridiculous, especially Leipzig, also Dortmund. It will need to be the same again tonight, because we were really poor in the first game, we weren't good at all.
"We got beat 2-0 and the second goal was an absolutely disgraceful decision. The referee got called over to VAR, looked over it at the side of the park, and, for some reason, known only to him and the guy who called him over, gave one of the worst penalty decisions I've seen in years.
"He then booked Connor Goldson for handball when he didn't know it happened. That said, I don't have a complaint about the result because we were poor and probably deserved to be beaten 2-0, but I have a problem with the VAR decision for the penalty.
"That aside, we've got to play a lot better, they will play a lot better. It's a real boost that Ryan Kent could play, he's back in the squad, back training, he's key for Rangers, I think, still continues to be key for Rangers, he's the one player, certainly in the Rangers team, who has something a little bit different, in a one vs one situation, he can drop his shoulder and go by somebody, once he goes by people things can open up, and hopefully that's the case tonight.
"Also, big bonus, big boost was Colak getting his first goal at the weekend, centre forward, also, probably, more so, was the return of Alfredo Morelos, he got 20 minutes and managed to score upon his return at the back post.
"They are not out of it, but it's a massive, massive ask. I think one of the big things, I'm hoping is a plus, is the no away goals as well, getting beat 2-0 over there and not scoring, it doesn't matter anymore.
"If they can get a goal, it doesn't have to be the first 10-15 mins, just get a goal and I think the fans will get the place absolutely rocking again. I am very hopeful, it's a big ask but they can."
And McCoist was reminded of the last trip to European football's most exclusive table and the man who was part of Walter Smith's coaching staff admits he's keen for a return to the top stage. And the pundit admits the chain of events which followed 2012 would have been hard to predict as the Ibrox side secured a thrilling Euro run last season.
He added: "That's amazing, you think what's happened to the club since 2010, it's been some journey, to be fair, if someone said in 2010 everything that was going to happen and you would get to a European final within 10, 11 years, you would have bittern their hand off, I suppose.
"It's massively important tonight, I'll be there!"
