Grinning Ally McCoist reckons Ange Postecoglou's Celtic exit has "spiced things up" for Rangers as they look to claim next season's Scottish title.
Michael Beale's side will aim to dethrone the all-conquering Hoops next season after they sealed a clean sweep of Scottish silverware with Scottish Cup final victory on Saturday - but in a whirlwind 48 hours since the Hampden showpiece Postecoglou has sealed a move away from Glasgow's east end to Tottenham. Former Rangers hero McCoist reckons that could open the door for the title picture to shift next term.
He reckons the likes of Kyogo Furushashi, Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter-Vickers could follow their former boss out of Celtic Park this summer. McCoist also notes that the new man in the hot seat will want to make changes - which could open the door for the Light Blues. Quizzed on if Postecoglou's exit could have an impact on race with Celtic on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "Time will tell. I mean he has had a fantastic two seasons, of that there is no doubt.
"The interesting thing now is a couple of the Celtic boys I know are thinking he will come and swoop for one or two of his former players, whether it is Kyogo or Hatate - and certainly Carter-Vickers has had an excellent season. That remains to be seen, will Celtic keep their squad. Who is going to come in and if they will want to change the squad and make changes. Certainly it has spiced things up, which from a Rangers point of view is excellent."
