Ally McCoist has hailed the 'amazing' European stat that Rangers banished last night to reach the Champions League play-off round.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men recovered from losing the first-leg 2-0 in Belgium to win 3-0 at Ibrox and seal a date with destiny against PSV in the final qualifying hurdle with the huge prize of tournament proper football and the massive cash boost that comes with it the big incentive on offer.
James Tavernier opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the final stages of the first period before Antonio Colak levelled the tie with a close-range header after following up Scott Arfield's initial effort. Malik Tillman then produced an incredible leap to get above the advancing goalkeeper to nod home the third and what proved to the winner to send Ibrox wild. Rangers hero McCoist was in no doubt that his former club would turn the tie around as he heaped huge praise on two individuals for their performances in the big win.

Speaking on the talkSPORT breakfast show, he said: “Unbelievable. I never doubted them. They got a goal at the perfect time and then were quite comfortable really, two good goals in the second half.
“What a statistic, that it’s the first time Rangers have ever come back from a 2-0 deficit. That was amazing. That’s the stat. I cannot believe that. I didn’t know that we’ve never come back from a two-nothing in Europe.
“It was incredible. The atmosphere. Brilliant. I knew we had a fair chance, I did, but I also knew it would be difficult.
“I also think the removal of the away goal helps as well, because it means you can be a bit more care free. Terrific.”
He continued: “There were a few interesting individual performances I thought were impressive. Tom Lawrence, particularly in the second half was excellent.
“I thought Malik Tillman looked very good although he came in and out of the game but there’s certainly a player in there.”
