TalkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has revealed his surprise at Kalvin Phillips remaining in Leeds United’s WhatsApp group chat. Phillips revealed in an interview last month that he was still in despite sealing a move to Manchester City earlier in the window.
Once a player eventually moves away from a club, that usually signals the end of their stay in highly renowned WhatsApp group. But in this case, that has not happened, with Phillips still currently in there despite now playing elsewhere.
Of course, not every player is able to build the relationships Phillips did with his teammates at Leeds; he was clearly very close to everyone at the Whites, especially the ones who have been there for several years. Phillips said last month: “The day that I get kicked out of that I will be quite upset. I am one of the admins but Liam Cooper the captain is an admin as well.

“I think just because I’ve got so many friends there, and it’s the players chat so not much goes in there about training and the games and stuff like that, I am very happy to still be in it.”
Speaking on talkSPORT, both Stuart Pearce and Alan Brazil agreed with Phillips still being in the group. “Keep him on board,” said Pearce, to which Brazil replied saying: “I agree!”
McCoist was not having any of it, though, as he struggled to get his head around the fact he has yet to be removed. He said: “You cannot! I’m shocked at you Pearcey.
“How can you keep an opposition team member on board with the gang? He’s out! He’s got to go, he can have a private WhatsApp group, but he’s got to go!”
