Ally McCoist in Rangers and Celtic meltdown as Chris Sutton claims Lundstram 'couldn't lace McGregor's boots'

Ally McCoist was left incredulous when Chris Sutton claimed John Lundstram wouldn't get into the Celtic team.

The two pals on either side of the Glasgow divide were debating their teams of the season on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra when the issue of the midfield engine room came up.

Callum McGregor was named PFA Player of the Year for his role in Celtic's charge to the title so seems an automatic pick.

But Lundstram has been a huge presence in the Rangers midfield with fans declaring him "the best on earth" amid their route to Seville.

The debate raged over the two midfield enforcers and McCoist suggested pairing them at central midfield.

But Sutton wasn't having it that 'Big Bad John' was worth a spot - claiming he wouldn't get into the current Celtic team ahead of the likes of Tom Rogic or Reo Hatate.

He said: "Big Bad John isn't getting in the Celtic team alongside Callum McGregor - he couldn't lace McGregor's boots!"

That sparked a hilarious reaction from McCoist who squealed in incredulity and was seen waving his arms at the screen.

He replied: "What?! Big Bad John's walking into that Celtic team! Big Bad John and ten others!"

Celtic will get their hands on the Premiership title on Saturday when they take on Motherwell in their final game of the season.

Rangers meanwhile face Hearts in the lunchtime kick-off before the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals come within the space of a week.
