Ally McCoist in hysterics at Alfredo Morelos comeback as Rangers hero left in tears by Chris Sutton jibe

Ally McCoist was left in hysterics after Chris Sutton compared him to Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

The Glasgow rivals engaged in some verbal sparring as ever on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra as the popular show returned to screens with the Premiership returning this week. McCoist's old team beat Hibs on Thursday night and Sutton's beloved Celtic travel to face Aberdeen on Saturday, with the pals across the Glasgow divide reviewing and previewing all the action.

Sutton had been singing the praises of Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis with McCoist delighting in the fact one of his favourite players in Ange Postecoglou's team looks set for the exit door. And McCoist, fresh off commentary duty in Qatar, was in full wind-up mode as he also declared himself a 'believer' following Rangers' victory on Thursday night. When asked by Darrell Currie if Gers could overturn the six-point gap to Celtic, McCoist said: "I'm a believer! I BELIEVE! I'm telling you it's possible, of course it's possible.

"We've known football for a long, long time, but I'll tell you something else. I understand why Chris is a big Giakoumakis fan, because they're similar players. Big strong centre-forwards who batter people about. That's why Christopher's a fan, he sees himself in big George."

But McCoist could only burst into hysterics when Sutton responded, drawing comparisons between him and Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos, who has been frequently criticised for his fitness and form this season. He said: "Hang on a minute. that's why Ally and Alfredo are very similar as well..." before McCoist lost his cool and applauded his rival's quick wit.
