Ally McCoist eviscerates Nick Walsh over 'scandalous' Celtic vs Rangers call

Ally McCoist launched a scathing rant on refereeing in Scotland as he slaughtered Nick Walsh over his "scandalous" decision in the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Rangers.

The Ibrox hero was left furious by the officiating at Hampden as he branded the "incompetence" of officials as "ridiculous".

McCoist's tirade on refereeing standards came as the former Rangers striker discussed the defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup final.

On Tuesday morning, McCoist responded to a text from a Celtic supporting listener who jokingly shared an 'unlucky' message with the pundit.

Host Jeff Stelling then prompted McCoist's furious rant as he hinted the Rangers legend was disgruntled over performances from referee Walsh and John Beaton on VAR.

McCoist slaughtered the "embarrassing" display as he criticised the decision to rule out Abdallah Sima's strike for a push on Joe Hart.

The goal was initially given by Walsh but he overturned his call after being called for a pitchside review on a shove on Hart by Nicolas Raskin.

McCoist accepted the push was enough to rule out the goal, but remains adamant a penalty should have been given for Greg Taylor holding Raskin before the shove on the Celtic goalkeeper.

In a blunt verdict on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "We were [unlucky], he has got a point there.

"Jeff, scandalous, absolutely scandalous honestly but I have come to expect it.

"The incompetence of our officials is nothing short of ridiculous. It is bordering on embarrassing to tell you the truth.

"They disallow the goal, for a shove, okay there might have been a little shove, I can understand that.

"But then go back two seconds, they have got to give a penalty, the boy has got his arms wrapped round the guy who eventually does the little shove.

"It is just total incompetence Jeff but we have come to expect it and that's the way it goes."
