Ally McCoist clashes with Alex Rae in heated Rangers red card rant

This is the moment that Ally McCoist ranted live on-air about Robin Propper's Rangers red card against Athletic Bilbao last night.

The Gers hero was on co-commentary duty for the Europa League tie at Ibrox, and voiced his displeasure at the decision during the game.

However, this continued late into the night as he joined his fellow pundits pitchside to dissect the major talking points from the 0-0 stalemate post-match.

And it was here that he clashed with former Rangers player and coach Alex Rae.

"I was listening to the boys about the decisions," he said post-match. "The sending off is nothing short of scandalous.

"Don't try and tell me 'The laws of the game this, the laws of the game that,' anybody that has played the game at any level knows it is not a red card."

Rae added: "How can is possibly be intentional?"

McCoist: "It's a disgraceful decision! And it spoils the game."

Rae: "The ref thought it was an intentional handball."

The former Gers coach was then corrected, as Emma Dodds, Hutton and Coisty pointed out they were referring to the red card for Propper early in the game, and not the second-half penalty awarded to the visitors.

Rae then said: "Ally, I've got to be honest with you, he's getting a shot away there.

McCoist: "Alec, I know he is, I know he is, but it's not a sending off!

"If that is the laws of the game then the laws of the game are wrong!

"We've all played the game. It's a mistimed tackle and it's a free kick. You can't be sending people off for that.

"I'm arguing the laws of the game are wrong. I'll tell you something else, it comes from a mistake when they're not concentrating in the first place.

"But guys, you can't be sending people off for that. It's a mistimed tackle, there is no intention to prevent a scoring opportunity."
