Alloa put together 'referee dossier' for Celtic red card fight as ex officials weigh in on Mouhamed Niang tackle

Hopeful Alloa have turned to former referees in a bid to help Mouhamed Niang avoid a ban for his tackle on Celtic midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi, report the Daily Mail.

The midfielder is in the dock over the flashpoint that left the Japanese star writhing in agony and forced him to miss the midweek win over Hearts.

Niang was initially booked by man in the middle Don Robertson but it was later flagged by the compliance officer for the three-person panel to pore over.

The 22-year-old Alloa man appeared to initially win the ball but it was his follow through tackle which left many believing a red card was the correct decision.

The original hearing date was Thursday but Niang's case will be heard on Friday due to red tape.

And the Mail state report the Wasps hope the opinions of FIFA-registered officials from Scotland and England will be taken into account.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou claimed after the game that he told his players to put on the brakes after Ideguchi, Callum McGregor and Liel Abada were forced off with injuries.

He said: "To be honest, I told some of the lads towards the end of the game not to go into tackles and to look after themselves because I didn't want any injuries. I didn't feel there was control in that environment."
