NBA great Allen Iverson paid respect to one of the modern NBA’s most talented ball-handlers in Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving.
Iverson, who knows a thing or two about iconic handles, was asked about Irving’s ball skills on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal and Adam Lefkoe.
In his answer, Iverson said he thinks Irving has the best handles ever.
“He got the best,” Iverson said of Irving. “Kyrie will have you beat, and then bring it back and play with it. He’s toying with people, you know what I mean? He can still just go, but if he feels like playing with you…”
The Hall of Fame guard also gave high praise to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry for his handles, but Iverson implied that Curry’s long-range shooting ability added an extra dimension to his game, as defenders would be wary of giving him too much space to pull up.
In his second season in Dallas, Irving is averaging 25.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. His ball-handling talents were also recently lauded by former teammate LeBron James, who posted an Instagram Story in awe of Irving’s effortless wizardry on the court.
