Alleged United Healthcare CEO Assassin Luigi Mangione's Next Hearing Suddenly Moved Up

Luigi Mangione

Luigi Mangione, the man accused of assassinating United Healthcare's CEO Brian Thompson, will face the judge sooner than expected, as his preliminary hearing in Pennsylvania has been abruptly rescheduled for this Thursday.

The preliminary hearing for Luigi Mangione originally scheduled for 12/23/24 has now been moved forward to this Thursday, NewsNation's Alex Capariello posted on X. "I'm in Altoona again and I'll be at that hearing. I'm also digging into some new leads in the meantime."

Mangione, 26, is being held on murder and weapons-related charges at State Correctional Institution Huntingdon in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

He plans to plead not guilty to the charges at his arraignment, his defense attorney said.

Earlier last week, Mangione refused to waive his extradition. As a result, prosecutors said it may take up to 45 days to get him back in New York.

Mangione's frustration over personal and systemic grievances fueled his manifesto and led to an elaborate plot.

On December 4, Mangione allegedly shot Thompson, 50, outside a Manhattan hotel during an investor event. Mangione was captured days later at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was found with a 3D-printed gun, a silencer, fake IDs and documents outlining his plan.
