Alleged sex offences in a cookie shop: If you worked there, call police

Police are seeking information from people who worked or had close contact with the Cookie Man business that operated out of the Tuggeranong shopping mall between 2007 and 2014.

Police are seeking witnesses and information relating to alleged sexual assault matters that are believed to have occurred at the shop during that period.

A man has been charged with sexual offences in relation to this investigation and will appear in court at a later date, and police believe there are some in the community who may have information about this matter and others, and are now issuing a public call for assistance.

Police are seeking any employees who worked at the business - or who know someone who did - between 2007 and 2014 to contact their Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team on 131 444 or via the police online reporting portal.

Police said that "we know victims can take significant periods of time to build up the courage to report sexual offences to police".

"ACT Policing has specially trained and dedicated investigators ready to hear your matter," they said.

Matters can be reported online at any time, or victims can attend a police station or call 131 444, with police pledging to support them through the process and put them in touch with dedicated victim support services.
