A man allegedly abused by former NSW Labor minister Milton Orkopoulos was asked to a party at the former MP's office as a 13-year-old boy, the state's District Court has heard.
Milton Orkopoulos has pleaded not guilty to 28 offences relating to four boys that allegedly took place at Lake Macquarie and NSW's Mid North Coast between 1993 and 2003.
Charges include eight counts of supplying a prohibited drug, eight counts of indecent assault, and 11 counts of sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 16.
Mr Orkopoulos is also accused of perverting the course of justice after allegedly having one complainant sign a statement to retract an allegation.
Asked to attend 'party'
The mother of one of the alleged victims gave evidence in Sydney's Downing Centre District Court on Tuesday where she alleged Mr Orkopoulos and another man came to her unit one night looking for her son.
The woman told the court Mr Orkopoulos stood out the front in her yard, while another man asked where her son was.
"They were going to have a party up there and he wanted [her son] to come," she said.
"I said he is not here, and said I don't know where he is."
The woman's evidence was cross-examined by Mr Orkopoulos's barrister Paul Johnson.
"[The man] came here to take [my son] to a party apparently … that is all I know," she said.
"I'd say it was at Milton's office. That's where they were going back to.
"That is where they all used to hang up there."
Asked by Mr Johnson if she was "just guessing" and did not know where the party was, she replied: "No, I have seen young boys there".
"[They were] going back to a party at Milton's and I said if [my son] was home he wouldn't be going anyway."
Mr Johnson challenged the woman's memory, noting her use of amphetamines (speed) and marijuana at the time.
Alleged pizza invite
A friend of the woman's son also gave evidence.
There is no suggestion he was allegedly abused but was asked to give a timeline of events concerning his friend.
He told the court he met Mr Orkopoulos several times, at which point the former minister would always ask "what I thought about a skate park for Swansea".
"He was always going on about a skate park," he said.
The man also told the court about a time Mr Orkopoulos allegedly "offered to take him for pizza" within earshot of his mother.
"Mum thought it was a bit strange he wanted to take her son for pizza just by himself."
The trial before Judge Jane Culver continues.
