Allan Saint-Maximin running video highlights desire to prove Newcastle United doubters wrong

Allan Saint-Maximin will be desperate to prove any doubters amongst the Newcastle United fanbase wrong when the Magpies return to action following the international break. The Frenchman came under some fire on the back of his performance at Goodison Park after he gave the ball away in the build-up to Alex Iwobi’s winning goal.

He replied to the criticism on Instagram by pairing a picture of him from the match with the caption ‘People forget quickly, but I know what to do to restore their memory’. The tricky winger will be desperate to do exactly that but has been forced to wait a couple of weeks due to the upcoming international break.

That brief interval from Premier League action hasn’t stopped Saint-Maximin from showing the Toon Army the work he is putting in though. He is currently in Dubai with the rest of the squad for the club’s warm weather mid-season training camp in the Middle Eastern country.

On Monday morning, he posted the following video to his Instagram story of some pretty intense running on the treadmill. A short video followed the treadmill action which showed him covered, and subsequently dripping, in sweat.

It highlights the 25-year-old’s desire, firstly, to fully recover from his recent injury and, secondly, show that he is ready to have his usual impact for United during the run-in to the end of the season. He has scored just once so far in 2022 and Eddie Howe will be desperate for him to add to that tally in the nine games that remain this term.

Although, Saint-Maximin still needs to show that he is worthy of a place in the team ahead of the players who helped pick up a few important results in his absence.
