Allan Saint-Maximin plays down Sadio Mane comparisons but wants to leave legacy

Allan Saint-Maximin has played down comparisons to Sadio Mane in an interview with French media. The Newcastle United winger spoke about his self-confidence but acknowledges his stats are behind some of the Premier League's best.

The Newcastle winger is intent on changing 'dimensions' in people's heads and wants to create a legacy in the game. Speaking to SoFoot.com, Saint-Maximin said "Those who have played with me know very well that in terms of pure quality, I have nothing to envy to Sadio Mané.

"The day when I have a player capable of finishing the actions, I will make seasons with 10-15 assists, and I will change dimension in the people's heads."

The 25-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Tyneside this summer, reiterating his desire to play European football on the biggest stage. Saint-Maximin himself says he's happy at St. James' Park, but that hasn't stopped speculation mounting.

The French youth international has been through a rough patch this season, despite scoring five goals and notching four assists for the Magpies - his best return in a black and white shirt. Saint-Maximin also spoke about creating a legacy similar to that of Michael Jordan.

The winger is already well known for his flamboyant playing style but wants to 'change lives.' He added: “Doing things that make an impression, changing the rules, that's the goal. Like what Michael Jordan managed to do. Jordan, he changed some people's lives, he gave people work, and that's the beauty of it."
