Allan Saint-Maximin was quick to remind an Everton fan of his rather untimely take on the his abilities after Newcastle beat Everton 3-1 on Tuesday night.
The Magpies came from a goal down to beat the Blues on Frank Lampard's first Premier League game in charge of the visitors, who had taken the lead through a first half Jamaal Lascelles own goal when he was under pressure from Mason Holgate.
Lascelles then immediately turned the tables when he headed against the Everton bar before the rebound hit Holgate and bounced in.
Ryan Fraser then forced home Newcastle's second after an error from Everton debutant Dele Alli, before Alli's former Tottenham teammate Kieran Trippier curled home a free-kick to seal the victory.
Saint-Maximin was key to Newcastle's victory, and after the match he quoted tweeted a tweet from an Everton supporter last month in which he was called 'average'.
In a brutal comeback along with a gif of rather smug Thierry Henry, he wrote: "'Average' was enough for today though."
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was delighted with his side's win.
"It is a big result for us because it was back-to-back wins," he told BT Sport.
"Consecutive wins in the Premier League are rare - they can change your status and elevate the club.
"We have to stay calm and focus on the next game.
"I think we are in a better place, but football has a way of twisting and turning, so we are not getting ahead of ourselves, we know how tough this league can be."
Goalscorer Trippier added: "It shows massive character from the team. We are going to need everybody. We know the position we are in. We got a great three points but still loads of games to go and we are taking one at a time.
"Feel we controlled the game and were dominant. To concede from a set-piece was disappointing, but to come from behind shows character and bodes well for the rest of the season.
"The most important thing is the team and the team performance.
"I came here to challenge myself and help my team-mates. I am here to help on and off the pitch. Most important thing is results and to stay in Premier League and that's our aim."
