Allan Saint-Maximin issues brilliant response to Everton fan on social media

Allan Saint-Maximin is a player Everton supporters will not be forgetting in a hurry after he ran Frank Lampard’s side ragged on Tuesday evening.

The Frenchman was electric as Newcastle United recorded consecutive victories for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory against the Toffees.

He didn’t manage to get himself on the scoresheet but, for many, he was the star of the show in a performance that took the Magpies out of the relegation zone.

As if he hadn’t tormented the visiting side enough, he immediately took to social media after the match to respond to an Everton fan who had previously mocked him.

It was clearly something that had been in the back of Saint-Maximin’s mind as he was replying to @EFCTrey’s tweet in which he was called ‘average’ from January 15.

The Newcastle forward responded by posting a gif of Thierry Henry smirking paired with the caption: “’Average’ was good enough today though.”

Unsurprisingly, the Toon Army absolutely loved the interaction and wasted no time in praising the winger.

His performance against Everton was one that every Newcastle supporter knows he is more than capable of producing and they will be hoping to see more of the same in every game between now and the end of the season.

Despite only playing together for a matter of minutes, the signs were very much there for Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes to establish a fantastic relationship on Tyneside.

In the dying minutes of the match, the pair almost combined for a fourth goal but Jordan Pickford was just able to deny Newcastle’s wideman after he had been slipped through by his new Brazilian team mate.

Eddie Howe’s side will be desperate to make it three from three as they return to St James’ Park on Sunday for the visit of Aston Villa.
