Allan McGregor coy on Rangers future as he reacts to Scotland goalkeeper SOS with 'holiday' quip

Allan McGregor says his Rangers future is not certain and that a potential return to the Scotland squad would be even more unlikely.

The veteran goalkeeper has been the revolving door number one at Ibrox this season, making more appearances than counterpart Jon McLaughlin despite Michael Beale also using the 35-year-old but with varying degrees of success. The English gaffer declared that McGregor was the first choice with the Rangers hero signing a fresh one-year deal at the end of last season.

It was thought McGregor was to hang up the gloves after the Scottish Cup triumph but instead decided to stay on and he has revisited the same claim he made last year when discussing his future.

He told Sky Sports: "I wouldn't have thought so, no. Nobody has spoken to me about it.

"I've not really thought about it so I find it highly unlikely. Would I rule it out? Well I've got my holidays booked for that week to be honest with you."

He added: "I don't think about it. I just take it game by game. I think at this age you need to. I'm not looking that far. I didn't do it last season so I won't this season. We'll see what happens in the summer."
