Rangers legend Barry Ferguson insists old friend Allan McGregor still has so much to contribute to the Rangers cause.
But he knows it's only the 40-year-old keeper's opinion that counts as he faces a big contract call this summer.
A series of mistakes up at Ross County had plenty of fans wondering if father time had caught up with their shot stopper.
He followed that up by letting in another three but anyone that watched last week's derby against Celtic will tell you the beating could have been twice as bad if it wasn't for McGregor's improved performance.
Largely a spectator in the 5-0 win against Hearts, McGregor has the County clangers out his system and Ferguson believes he's got it in him to stay on for another term, though he reckons current Ibrox back-up Jon McLaughlin and soon-to-be free agent Zander Clark are two other good options.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said: "I think it's highlighted with the mistakes he made up at Ross County.
"I can count on one hand the mistakes Greegsy has made over the years. Look, he's not getting any younger, I know that.
"He's 40, but he's still in good condition.
"After those mistakes you saw what type of character he is. You saw the performance he had against Celtic because it could have been six or seven without Allan McGregor.
"He's not getting any younger but I still think he's a top keeper and it'll be up to Allan. He has had injuries in the past.
"He had a back problem three or four years ago, I know that's the reason he stopped playing international football.
"But if he feels he's up for it he'll continue for another season. Jon McLaughlin is a really good backup keeper, I really like him. Zander Clark is another, St Johnstone have had a poor season but Zander is still performing at a high level.
"I'd like to see him stay. He's old enough to make his own mind up but I still think there's football left in Allan McGregor."
