Allan delivers Everton future update after Frank Lampard appointment

Everton midfielder Allan has said he wants to stay with the club 'a lot longer' and help them win a cup following the arrival of Frank Lampard.

Lampard was named permanent successor to Rafael Benitez in January and beat Brentford in the FA Cup last weekend before falling to defeat in his first Premier League game in charge at Newcastle United.

Allan started both fixtures for the former Chelsea midfielder and admitted he is hopeful of remaining at Everton long enough to lift silverware after being signed by Carlo Ancelotti from Napoli in 2020.

He said to ESPN Brasil : “We get to a certain age, we have to start planning our career.

"What I have on my mind is to stay a lot longer here at Everton. As long as I can, as long as the club thinks I can add something on the pitch.

"So what I have on my mind right now is to continue my career in the Premier League.

"Make good games, good tournaments and God willing, that I can, suddenly, in a little cup like these, we can win something and leave the name written in the history of Everton.”

Allan also believes Lampard 'stirred' the squad with his 'important' arrival as manager.

“Lampard’s arrival was very important," said Allan.

"It was where it stirred a little with the pride of all the players. Where everyone wants to demonstrate, everyone wants to do a little more than what they’ve been doing.

"A coach who likes to have the ball, who likes to defend high, who likes to command the match. And that I think is important.

“We try to assimilate as quickly as possible. And for us, who are midfielders, as you said, it’s a little easier. Having the tips from a guy who dominated the position for many years, who had a winning career.

"So we try to adapt as quickly as possible so that we can always be playing good games, training well, preparing well.”
