Everything we know know about Kim Cattrall's And Just Like That return - including SJP dig

Sex and the City fans were over the moon when they learned that Kim Cattrall is reportedly making a return as the iconic Samantha Jones.

On Thursday (May 31), it was reported that Kim will be in the season two finale of the show's HBO revival, And Just Like That.

The news might come as a shock to many as Kim famously fell out with her former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker and previously ruled out working with the show's stars ever again.

In And Just Like That, they explained Samantha's absence by revealing she moved to London while SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis continue as usual as a trio.

Here's everything we know about Kim's return to the revival...

VERY brief cameo

As reported by Variety, Kim is only due to make a short return to one episode of the second series.

Sources claimed the star filmed her dialogue two months ago in New York City and didn't have to be anywhere near her former co-stars.

It is understood that the scene will see Samantha - who became a fan favourite due to her sex-positive and ambitious ways - having a phone conversation with Carrie Bradshaw, played by SJP.

In the first season, the only conversation shown between Samantha and Carrie was when Carrie texted her.

By the end of the series, the duo made plans to meet up with each other.

Mirror have contacted Kim's reps for comment.

Major Blow to SJP

Patricia Field, who was the costume designer who worked on the original series and created some of Carrie's most iconic looks, didn't return for And Just Like That.

She was working on Netflix's Emily In Paris at the time, meaning SJP had to find another way to create new legendary looks.

However, Variety reported that the acclaimed designer dressed Kim for her upcoming brief cameo.

Patricia even worked with Kim on her new show, Glamorous, which is set to be released on Netflix this month.

Kim and Patricia's long-standing friendship and constant collaborations will come as a blow to SJP - who has been feuding with Kim for years.

In December last year, Patricia even slammed Cynthia's fashion demands when she was asked about her former assistant Molly Rogers' work styling the stars in the revival.

The Oscar nominee admitted she "liked some of it, but not all of it".

She added: "I know those gals! Sarah Jessica [Parker] thinks she knows everything - and she does. Cynthia Nixon thinks she knows everything - and she doesn't! Even today, when I speak with Molly, it's about Cynthia. I say, 'I remember what you are going through.'"

Patricia even spoke about Kim's absence from the series, saying: "It is a vacuum. I hear it everywhere. Everyone is mad she won't be in it."

Before it was announced that Kim will be making a brief appearance on the show, Kim revealed she was never asked to be on the show.

SJP even admitted they never went to the star about the new series and said she didn't want her back.

She was asked whether she would be okay with having Kim return to the show and SJP responded: "I don't think I would, because I think there's just too much public history of feelings on her part that she's shared.

"I haven't participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.'"

"We didn't go to Kim for this, you know,' she added. "After we didn't do the movie and the studio couldn't meet what she wanted to do, we have to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her."

Last year, Kim revealed she found out about And Just Like That... via social media like most fans.

"I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did - on social media," she said.
