All the upcoming train strike dates as rail dispute continues

Train services all across the country are still experiencing disruption following a 24-hour strike on Wednesday (July 27).

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at Network Rail and 12 train operators walked out following a long-winded dispute over jobs, pay and working conditions. While talks are expected to resume today, there is still little sign of any resolution being met.

Following this, there are some more planned strikes taking place on Saturday and next month which will be hosted by the RMT as well as members of the drivers union Aslef and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA). Aslef announced that drivers at nine rail companies are to stage a one-day strike on Saturday, August 13 after firms failed to make a pay offer to members that met the rising cost of living.

Drivers will also be going on strikes this Saturday at seven companies while Aslef members at two more train operators voted in the majority for industrial action. Mick Whelan, general secretary of Aslef, said: “Strikes are always the last resort.

“We don’t want to inconvenience passengers – our friends and families use public transport, too – and we don’t want to lose money by going on strike but we’ve been forced into this position by the companies, who say they have been driven to this by the government.”

The RMT and TSSA will also hold more strikes on August 18 and 20, while London Underground workers will stage a walkout on August 19. Furthermore, Royal Mail workers have voted to strike while disputes continue to rise over pay rates for public sector workers including teachers and health employees.

Here's a breakdown of all the upcoming rail strikes:

  • Saturday, July 30 - Drivers at seven rail companies will go on strike
  • Saturday, August 13 - RMT, Aslef and TSSA workers will go on a one-day strike
  • Thursday, August 18 - RMT and TSSA will go on strike
  • Friday, August 19 - London Underground workers will stage a walkout
  • Saturday, August 20 - RMT and TSSA will go on strike
