Tupac Shakur's death in a drive-by shooting in 1996 rocked the rap world and fans alike.
The star was just 25 when he was shot four times - twice in the chest, once in the arm and once in the thigh - as he pulled up outside Las Vegas' Club 662 in a black BMW with Death Row Records boss Suge Knight.
He died six days later on September 13, 1996 - 23 years ago today.
But more than two decades on and not everyone is convinced that he's actually dead.
In the years since Tupac's death there have been no shortage of conspiracy theories and sightings, with the slain rapper doing some serious globe trotting...
New York 2011
A man looking very much like the star was caught on camera attending the Occupy Wall Street demo in New York in 2011.
He kept his face largely covered in a yellow rain mac, and Tupac's mum Afeni even gave a shout out to all those who took part in the march.
Los Angeles 2014
Either Tupac lives and breathes or he's got some cracking twins out there, because the bloke Snoop Dogg spotted at the BET Awards in LA was a dead ringer for the rapper.
"Who PAC?" Snoop captioned the snap, clearly as stunned as everyone else.
Boston 2014
That same year a clip of 'Tupac' watching a Boston Celtics basketball game went viral.
Wearing his trademark bandanna, the imposter/look-a-like/actual Tupac was accompanied by a pretty blonde and everyone at the game stated rapping one of his songs when he was shown on camera.
But the dream was over when the mystery man rather un-cooly started spoofing for the fans.
"He had the look but none of Shakur's style," a witness said.
Somalia 2018
In Febuary a man claimed to have seen Tupac, alongside well-known friend and founder of Outlawz hip-hop group – Yaki Kadafi, in Somalia.
"I’ve seen Tupac and Kadafi way after their said deaths – in Somalia," Suldaan Mahdi said in an online post, according to the Daily Star.
"I’ve seen them both alive. I was in a car and they were heading in the other direction.
"Kadafi was doing some kind of hand signals – he looked kind of funky.
"I saw them alive way after their said deaths."
Cuba 2004 - 2018
The latest theory to spring forth is that Tupac was smuggled into Cuba with the help of former President Fidel Castro.
Michael Nice recently said the legendary rapper is alive and well after being smuggled out of America by a security team that he was part of.
He reckons the team helped Tupac travel from Las Vegas to Barbados before his journey continued to Cuba.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Michael says his safe passage to Cuba was all down to the late Fidel Castro, who died in November 2016.
"I have audio and video evidence of Fidel Castro confirming he sanctioned Tupac to live in Cuba," Michael claimed.
"And he sanctioned the double body switch that I was involved in."
Interestingly some people believe that after faking his own death Tupac fled to Cyba where his aunt Assata lives.
Sue Knight seemed to confirm the theory, stating, "Why do you think nobody has been arrested?
"If he was dead, they’d be arresting those dudes for murder. You know he’s somewhere smoking a Cuban cigar on an island.”
Los Angeles jail
Bizarre new 'evidence' has emerged that suggests Tupac is in a Los Angeles prison.
The rapper has previously served time for sex abuse charges, but apparently 'newly found' bookings from 2017 and 2019 appear to 'match' Tupac's identity.
According to YouTuber Ex Con Cody Lachey when searching using Tupac Amaru Shakur and his date of birth, two recent entries come up.
The two booking records are from April 14 2017 and the second April 26 2019, with details matching Tupac - including his height and weight.
A startled Lachey says: "Tupac is supposed to be dead. This is exactly the same as the other arrest – same height, same hair colour, same weight.
"Guys – Tupac is alive, I am telling you guys. This is Tupac."
