All the roadworks happening in Greater Manchester this week

Road works can be a pain for all those travelling both in and out of the city.

Below is a comprehensive and helpful guide to all the roadworks across Manchester and in your area, to give you a head start in planning your journey and avoiding pit falls.

This is what to expect over the coming week according to Transport for Greater Manchester.

Central Manchester

  • There are currently no planned major roadworks due to take place in Central Manchester this week.

Manchester

  • A lane closure will be in place on Ardwick Green South near the tele exchange from 11th - 22nd April. The work is taking place between 8am - 8pm and is being undertaken by SSE Datacom.

  • A lane closure will be in place at the junction of Wilmslow Road and Kingsway in Manchester from 20th April - 6th May. Times for the work are not specified, the work is being undertaken by Cadent Gas Ltd.

Bolton

  • A lane closure will be in place on Bolton Road in Farnworth at the junction of Alfred Street from 4th April - 4th May. The lane closure will be in place weekdays only, the work is being undertaken by BT.
  • A lane closure will be in place on Bolton Road in Kearsley as part of Phase 2 of resurfacing of the M61 SB from Junction 3 to M60 from 8th - 22nd April. The work is taking place between 8pm - 6am and is being undertaken by National Highways.

Bury

  • There are currently no planned major roadworks due to take place in Bury this week.

Oldham

  • There are currently no planned major roadworks due to take place in Oldham this week.

Rochdale

  • Multi-way signals will be in place on Featherstall Road in Littleborough outside TCB to 115 from 11th - 19th April. The work is taking place between 9:30am - 3:30pm and is being undertaken by Electricity North West.

Salford

  • There will be lane closures in place at the following locations for the Trafford Road improvement scheme; Regent Road roundabout, Broadway, Goodiers Drive, Trafford Road and Merchants Quay. The work is taking place until April 2022.

  • Road closure in place eastbound on Eccles New Road, Salford between Weaste Road and Langworthy Road from Monday 4 April until Saturday 30 April, times unspecified. This work is for Metrolink Track replacement.

  • Multi-way signals will be in place on Manchester Road in Clifton at the junction with Billy Lane from 20th April - 5th May. The work is taking place between 8am - 6pm and is being undertaken by Cadent Gas Ltd.

Chapel Street in Salford was hit by roadworks last year - now work will take place to plant trees along the route (Kenny Brown)

Stockport

  • Multi-way signals will be in place on Manchester Road at the junction with Whitehall Street West in Heaton Norris from 11th - 27th April. Times for the work are not specified however the site will be closed down over the Easter weekend, the work is being undertaken by Electricity Northwest.

Tameside

  • Two-way signals will be in place on Manchester Road (outside house 255) until 3 June. Work will take place 9.30am to 3.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 10pm on Saturdays to 8am on Sundays.
  • Lane closures will be in place on Manchester Road and Manchester Road South in Denton as part of the M60 carriageway resurfacing from 13th - 29th April. The work is taking place between 8pm - 5am and is being undertaken by National Highways.

Trafford

  • There are currently no planned major roadworks due to take place in Tameside this week.

Wigan

  • Road closure in place on Mealhouse Lane, Atherton at the junction of Bag Lane from 18th April to 19th April 2022 between 7pm and 6am. These works will be undertaken by United Utilities.
