A number of road closures will take place in and around the M4 this week. There will be several overnight closures between April 4 and April 10 this week both on the M4 and surrounding roads and junctions.
The closures, most of which are to facilitate roadworks, will affect motorists travelling through Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. Here are all the closures affecting travellers in and around the M4 this week.
- A48 westbound to M4 junction 49 Cross Hands : The A48 will be will be shut overnight between the M4 at junction 49 for Pont Abraham and Cross Hands in order for resurfacing work to be carried out. The work has been ongoing since March 28, forcing overnight closures on the section of westbound carriageway. Closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am each evening until Friday, April 8.
- M4 westbound junction 25A to 26 : The M4 will be shut westbound between junction 25A Grove Park and junction 26 Malpas this week. Overnight cosures will be in place between 8pm and 6am on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night, reopening on Thursday, April 7. This is to facilitate maintenance work.
- M4 eastbound junction 41 : The exit slip road of the eastbound M4 carriageway will be closed at junction 41 Pentyla/Baglan this week due to maintenance work. Overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am each night until Saturday, April 9.
- M48 eastbound junction 2 to junction 1 : The Severn Crossing will be closed eastbound between junction 2 Newhouse and junction 1 Aust until Wednesday, April 6 for maintenance work. This means that those wishing to travel to England may need to use the Prince of Wales Bridge. The road will be shut overnight on Monday and Tuesday between 7pm and 6am.
- M4 eastbound junction 48 to 47 : The entry slip road to the eastbound carriageway will be closed from junction 48 Hendy to junction 47 Penllergaer from 8pm on Monday, April 4 until 6am on Tuesday, April 5. This is in order to allow structural inspections to take place.
M4 westbound at junction 19: The M4 westbound exit slip at junction 19 will be shut overnight from Monday, April 4 at 10pm until 6am on Tuesday, April 5. This is to facilitate roadworks.
Junction of the M4 junction 22 and the M49: The junction of the M4 junction 22 and the M49 will be shut overnight between Monday, April 4 and Wednesday, April 6 as roadside drain works are planned. The closures will be overnight between 10pm and 6am.
