From picnics and food festivals to street parties and concerts, people right across the UK are preparing to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in style next weekend. It’s been 70 years since Queen Elizabeth was crowned in 1953, and while there will be a range of activities going on across Wales.

Bridgend town
Green Top Events, who regularly host monthly street markets in Bridgend and Porthcawl, are bringing a coronation street market to Bridgend town centre on Saturday, May 6, for residents of the town to enjoy.
The event, which is described as featuring independent producers, talented crafters, artisan makers and a few tasty surprises, will be held in Caroline Street and Adare Street with discounts offered to local traders who wish to take stalls.
Porthcawl
Elsewhere, Picnic in the Park will be hosted by Porthcawl town council at Griffin Park on Saturday, May 6. Here families can celebrate the coronation of King Charles III by bringing their own picnic to eat at the well-known park, as well as enjoying a range of other entertainment, food, and activities on offer.
Maesteg
On Monday, May 8 people in the town of Maesteg can celebrate the coronation with their 'right royal knees up' event held in Market Square. The free event will run from at 11am to 4pm and will include entertainment and music, as well food and drink available to purchase.
Council leader Huw David, said: "Residents coming together to organise street parties marking royal or other national events are a British tradition.
"The King’s Coronation will offer communities throughout Bridgend County Borough an ideal opportunity to get together and hold a celebration with neighbours."
