All the Nottinghamshire banks confirmed for closure in 2023

Three Nottinghamshire banks will close in 2023 as thousands disappear from the UK's high streets. Which? suggests banks and building societies have closed, or have scheduled to close, a total of 5,355 branches since January 2015.

This amounts to 54 branches each month, which banks have attributed to more people using online services to manage their money. In one of the latest announcements, HSBC said it would shutter 114 banks nationwide in 2023, as reported by The Mirror.

Four banks have been scheduled for permanent closure next year so far in Nottinghamshire as the number of branches continues to decline. Three of the closures will be made by HSBC as part of their large scale shutdown plan.

It was announced earlier this year that the HSBC in Front Street, Arnold, would be closing on May 9, 2023. The news sparked a letter to be sent by Michael Payne, the deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council, who urged bosses to keep it open.

Arnold residents recently said the bank's decision to close its branch was a sign the high street was being ruined. Plans have also been made for the HSBC at Nottingham Road, Eastwood, to close on August 29, 2023,

Their branch at 41 Market Place, Long Eaton, just over the Nottinghamshire border, will also be closed, with its last day being July 11, 2023. NatWest will be shutting its branch in High Road, Beeston, NG9 2JX on January 25, 2023.

Locals branded the closure a shame when previously asked about the future of the soon-to-be vacant building. But NatWest said the branch was also only used by three personal customers regularly in 2021, with 104 business customers using the bank regularly within the same period.
