All the new Bristol restaurant openings to get excited about in 2023

The hospitality industry has not had an easy ride in recent years with the pandemic and now the cost of living crisis. While there have been a few restaurants and bars that haven't survived this year, there have also been lots of new openings.

Cow & Sow opened not one but two restaurants in 2022 proving that people love a high quality steakhouse. Nort Street has also seen lots of new openings including Kitchen by KASK and Cor, a sharing plates restaurant.

2023 will be no different either - there is plenty for foodies to get excited about in 2023 with lots of new restaurants on the horizon. If you like Italian food, then you're in luck as there are two new restaurants set to open early in the year. Here's a list of some of the exciting new venues coming to Bristol.

BOXHALL

The London food hall concept made popular in Shoreditch and Croydon has initially meant to be completed in 2022 but faced delays due to the pandemic, and is now earmarked for a summer 2023 launch. BOXHALL Bristol located on Welsh Back is headed up by restauranteur Josh Eggleton, who has been searching for some of the city's best independent food traders to take the seven kitchen spots.

The modern food hall structure is set to offer high-quality product ranges and carefully curated, authentic cuisine from local, independent street food traders and restaurant operators in Bristol. It will create over 100 job opportunities for the local community.

Grano

The Italian restaurant made a name for itself as a pop-up around Bristol and has finally found a permanent home in Old Market, where it first started out all those years ago. There is no fixed date for the opening but the team is working hard to get the restaurant up and running after Christmas.

Headed up by Alberto Noriega, the Piedmontese chef said he was emotional but excited to get started again. The kitchen will be delivering simple, fresh pasta dishes such as tortellini and ravioli along with meat and vegetable main courses. More than half of the menu will be vegetarian to reflect Italy’s love of vegetables.

Pastan

A new vegan pasta restaurant is to open on the site in Prince Street formerly occupied by Friska. Pastan - known for its vegan and plant-based pasta brand - will take over the site early in 2023.

With two restaurants already in London and Manchester, it is coming to Bristol after a pop-up near Gloucester Road proved popular. Brand manager Sophie Weir said: “It demonstrated to us there is definitely an appetite for plant-based pasta options.”

Pizzacci

The team behind Bosco Pizzeria has due to launch its new brand Pizzacci in 2022, but delays have meant the grand opening is now set for early 2023. On its Instagram page, the new restaurant on Gloucester Road will feature 18-inch pizzas, slices to go, soft serve ice cream, frozen cocktails and good times.
