Families across the region have lost loved ones in horrific circumstances since the start of this year.
Day Street and Rock Grove in Old Swan are at the centre of a murder probe after a man was found stabbed to death on Monday, March 14. It's the latest of four murder investigations to be launched on Merseyside and in the surrounding area so far in 2022.
Here we take a look at an overview of these investigations and the latest information we have from police.

39-year-old man from Knotty Ash
A 39-year-old man from Knotty Ash was found stabbed to death on a street in Old Swan on Monday.
The victim, a 39-year-old man from Knotty Ash, was found with multiple stab wounds on Rock Grove last night, March 14. Police attended the scene at around 8.55pm and gave him CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later a woman was found at a property nearby with stab wounds. She was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries before being discharged. Police have confirmed that the 25-year-old has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody.
Detectives said the investigation is still in the very early stages and they are keeping an open mind. A post mortem is still to take place to establish the cause of death of the man.
Kenneth Gillam
Kenneth Gillam was found dead at a house in Wirral on January 11.
Police were called to an address on New Ferry Road at around 1.30am to a report that a man had been found unconscious. Paramedics attended but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Tributes were paid to the 45-year-old, also known as Kenny, following his death, who was described as a "lovely lad" who would "do anything for anyone."
A 59-year-old man from New Ferry was arrested on suspicion of murder but has been bailed with conditions. In an update today, Merseyside Police said the 59-year-old man is bailed until the end of March and the investigation remains ongoing.
Andrew McDiarmid
Andrew McDiarmid was found stabbed to death in his own home on January 24.
The 64-year-old, who served for 30 years with Merseyside Police, was found with serious head injuries at his home on Oldfield Way in Wirral. Emergency services were called to the scene in Heswall at around 8.45pm, however the 64-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the property.
Following a post mortem, police confirmed the cause of death as stab wounds. Those who knew Andrew, known to friends as Andy, described him as a "loving man" and "a wonderful human being."
A 54-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been told she will face no further action.
A 21 year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been detained under the Mental Health Act. A police spokesperson today confirmed enquires remain ongoing.
Christopher Hughes
Christopher Hughes was found dead off White Moss Road South in Skelmersdale on February 22.
Shortly after 4.30pm on Friday, February 18, a member of the public reported seeing a man being forced into the back of a vehicle on Almond Grove in the Worsley Hall area of Wigan.
Lancashire Police officers were then called to White Moss Road South, in Skelmersdale at around 11am on Tuesday, February 22, where they found a body - now identified as Christopher Hughes, from Wigan. A post mortem concluded the 37-year-old died as a result of multiple serious injuries.
Five men have since been charged with conspiracy to commit Christopher's murder.
Alan Jaf (01/09/70) of Ridyard Street, Wigan; Khalil Awla (01/01/74) of Greenwood Avenue, Wigan; Erland Spahiu (13/10/88) of Uppingham, Skelmersdale; Curtis Balbas (01/01/92) of Matheson Drive, Wigan and Dean Smeaton O'Neill-Davey (12/08/92) of Bulteel Street, Wigan all appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on March 5 and have been remanded in custody until their next hearing at Manchester Crown Court on April 8.
