All the Leeds city centre roads closed this weekend for Disney Plus filming

Leeds is set to be the backdrop of a new Disney Plus TV series, which will begin filming in the city centre this weekend.

Led by Grass-Fed Productions (UK), the name of the show has yet to be announced.

But it is widely believed to be for a new Marvel Studios series called Secret Invasion, set to star Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn.

Olivia Coleman and Emilia Clarke are also rumoured to be joining the star-studded cast.

Grass Fed Productions and Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney, have been linked together by multiple online sources.

And the production company confirmed it was filming in locations across Leeds for a Disney Plus show, in a letter sent to city centre residents.

Filming is scheduled to take place in Bond Court and Alexander Street on Sunday January 23, according to the letter.

While filming is proposed between 8am to 6pm on the one day only, preparation of the area will take place on Friday 21 and Saturday 22.

On Sunday, there will be a road closure on Russell Street and Alexander Street for safety reasons.

The main filming will take place Bond Court but some filming will be taking place inside the Gusto Alleyway (running between Greek Street and Bond Court), Greek Street and Alexander Street.

The production company has also requested temporary parking suspensions on loading bays along East Parade, and the pay and display bays along St Pauls Street, Bedford Street, South Parade and Alexander Street.

The letter says: "We have been liaising with Leeds City Council and the Highways Department regarding this shoot and this letter offers the opportunity to get in touch and let me know of any concerns you may have in relation to our works."

It adds that Disney are "working to Government guidelines in relation to providing a COVID secure environment," with crew completing daily temperature checks, having Covid tests three times a week, and wearing face coverings at all times.

The production will also shoot in The Piece Hall in Halifax, from Monday, January 24 until Monday, January 31.
