The Dyson Airwrap has been at the top of Christmas lists since its launch in 2018. But the first-of-its-kind hair styler comes in at a whopping £499.99, far beyond many people's budgets.
The multi-styler tool uses an aerodynamic phenomenon called the Coanda effect, which is powered by the Dyson digital V9 monitor. According to Dyson, it uses air to attract and wrap hair to the barrel or surface of the brush. The benefit of this is that it uses air to style hair and not extreme heat, meaning users should expect less breakage and better results.
Those looking to achieve similar results on a budget can now do so, after several retailers launch their own version of the hair tool, with the most expensive coming in at £300, and the cheapest now as low as £37.

Shark HD44OUK FlexStyle Air Styler & Hair Dryer, £300
At the top of the price band is the Shark styler. Like Dyson, Shark is popular among its users for their vacuums, so you can assume their knowledge of air devices will contribute to how well this product works. This is the only other product along with the Dyson Air-Wrap that uses the Coanda technology, which means it sucks your hair to the barrel curler automatically.
It also comes with multiple adapters like the Dyson, which allows you to curl, straighten, volumise, smooth and define your hair. It comes with an oval brush to add bounce and shine, a concentrator, to master a smooth blow dry, a curl-defining diffuser to use on natural curls, and two barrels to create curls using the Coanda technology.
The tool launched this October and so far reviews have been glowing. with one reviewer stating it creates the perfect bouncy blow dry "that seems impossible to create outside the salon." It retails for £300 and is available to purchase from Argos.
Revolution Hot Air Styler, £99.99
This hairstyler falls in the lower budget, retailing at £99.99 with limited supply on Revolution. It comes with three attachments, a dryer head, a brush and the barrel curler. It works similar to the Dyson and Shark in that the air wraps your hair around the barrel.
Unlike the other two, it only comes with the one barrel curler (the other two have two different ones for different sides of your head), and its advised to hold the tool upside down to do one side of your head, and upright to do the other side so the curls flow in the same direction. The brand also claim the tool is better for your hair than traditional heat styling products.
The product is also new this month, and reviews have started to come in, TikTok beauty guru, Olivia Blackwell compared the two products and while her review favoured the Dyson, she said the outcome for less than £100 is great.
BaByliss Air Style 1000 Hot Air Styler, £38*
Another new air styler to the market and the cheapest we can find from a reputable brand is the BaByliss Air Style 1000. It's RRP is £70 but it is currently on offer at Amazon for £38* and Argos for £46.50.
It comes with four attachments, a barrel curler, a barrel brush, a hair brush and dryer attachment. It promises to dry, smooth and shape and curl like a salon professional. It has been on the market a little longer than the Revolution dupe and reviews range from calling it a cheap product to an excellent hair tool. For just £37, a fraction of the Dyson price, we believe it is worth a try.
