There is set to be a lot of disruption this festive period, with a number of strikes scheduled over Christmas and New Year.

Royal Mail staff will stage a walk out on two days before Christmas - including Christmas Eve - causing huge concern for people across Glasgow and the rest of the country. Train travel will also be disrupted with further strikes scheduled during the festive season and into the early stages of the new year. Royal Mail
Following previous days of industrial action, members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) – who represent Royal Mail workers – are set to strike across more days - including Christmas Eve.

It comes as pay dispute continues, with 115,000 members set to walk out. Royal Mail bosses has stated offered a nine per cent hike over 18 months, stating that this increase is their best offer. Bosses are also consulting on plans to cut around 10,000 full time jobs by August next year.
Glasgow Airport
With lots of people travelling to visit family and friends this festive season, there may be some disruption for those flying to and from Glasgow Airport.
Border Force workers are preparing to strike on key dates, with Glasgow Airport amongst the airports preparing for industrial action. It comes as the he Public and Commercial Services union calls for the Government to return to discussions following disagreement over pensions, pay and working conditions.
The row, specifically over pay, also involves the threat of pay cuts and changes to pension rules.

Train strikes
There has been a lot of rail disruption throughout 2022. And it may be much the same for 2023, with strikes planned for the first few days of the new year.
It comes after the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) rebutted the latest pay offer, resulting in a number of new dates of industrial action over the festive season.
As Christmas creeps up on us all, the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) have rebuffed the latest pay offer to stop their planned strikes this festive season.
The RMT are set to continue with the industrial action planned for December, and have added extra dates on Christmas Eve and December 27. Railway workers are striking as they argue for a pay rise in line with rising inflation rates.
People travelling home after a festive get together with loved ones may also face scheduling troubles if travelling by train, with four dates on strikes within the first seven days of 2023.
