All the candidates standing in the Wigan Council local elections 2022

There are 85 candidates who are all vying for a spot on the Wigan Council as election day edges closer and closer. There are 25 wards being contested across Wigan with the majority of seats currently held by Labour councillors.

There is one seat available in each ward with two seats available in the Leigh East ward. Labour and Conservatives are the only parties that will be fielding a candidate in every ward come election day on Thursday, May 5.

Elections are held in all wards in three out of every four years, usually on the first Thursday in May. You must be registered to vote by Thursday, April 14 with all applications for a postal vote due by 5pm on Tuesday, April 19.

The election count will take place overnight on Thursday with results coming in the early hours of Friday, May 6.
